The new standard NHS contracts for community and mental health services: briefing for the third sector

The Department of Health has published two new standard contracts which will be used by primary care trusts (PCTs) from April 2009.

The standard contracts will be used for health and care services with any provider for new contracts commencing on or after 1 April 2009. There is one for general community based services and another for specialist mental health/learning disability or substance misuse services.

Commissioning: Possible-GMCVO helping to improve relations between voluntary sector and commissioners

Greater Manchester Centre for Voluntary Organisation has published a new report aiming to give an insight into the experiences of public sector commissioning among third sector organisations. Their findings include that there is a tension between legal requirements to put contracts out to tender and the desire to maintain working relationships that have proven successful.
